The educational program at IDS is designed to meet the learning needs of college bound children of average to superior ability. Students are admitted without regard to race, color, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin.

Students are expected to comply with the school's rules and procedures, and to meet the school's academic and behavioral standards, as a condition of continuation and re-enrollment.

After February 1, students are admitted at all grade levels on a space available basis. Preference is given in admissions decisions to the siblings of present students.

In the event of a waiting pool situation, admissions decisions are made on the basis of applicants' relative qualifications, rather than dates of application.

Parents are expected to respond within ten days upon receipt of an offer of admission for their child.

After receiving an admissions packet by calling 813-961-3087 the next steps are:

1. Arrange a tour with the Office of Admission by calling 813-961-3087.
   
   
2. Return the completed application form with the $75.00 fee that includes the purchase of the book It's All About Kids, Every Child Deserves A Teacher of the Year.
   
   
3. Attach a recent photograph of your child to the application to help us get to know your child quickly.
   
   
4. Authorize your child's present school to release all records (official transcript, annual testing results, etc.) to the IDS Admissions Office.
   
   
5. Submit a recent sample of writing assigned and corrected by your child's present teacher, for students entering grades 2-8.
   
   
6. Give confidential reference forms to two teachers who have had your child in class. Ask them to mail them directly to the IDS Admissions Office.
   
   
7. Arrange a date to have your child visit a classroom and do admissions testing with the Director of Admissions.
   
   
8. Applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee when the file is complete.

Early admissions occurs in selected grades by December 10th. All other acceptances occur after February 1st.
