Feb. 16, 2012 (TAMPA, Fla.) – Fifteen students from Independent Day School-Corbett Campus in grades 3 through 8 who had won the school’s science fair earlier this year, represented IDS-CC at the 2012 Hillsborough Regional Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Fair.
Formerly called the Hillsborough Regional Science and Engineering Fair, the event attracted more than 1,900 Hillsborough County public and private school students.
The day before the awards presentation, judges familiar with each category interviewed the finalists and assessed their projects. “Each student was asked multiple questions to ensure a thorough understanding of the project,” said Linda Wenzel, IDS-CC director of studies and fifth-grade teacher. “Our students answered extremely well, demonstrating deep knowledge of their research and clear articulation of their scientific findings.”
“Our students worked diligently since the beginning of school this year to create quality science projects,” said Gery Morey, middle school science teacher. “As a result of their dedication and hard work, they were able to enter the Hillsborough fair with outstanding projects.”
