Curriculum
Curriculum is keyed to national and state standards and Corbett Prep students consistently score above national averages. At the same time, students' curiosity, inquiry and a focus on high expectations help shape the curriculum with teachers serving as mentors, guides and role models. All classes are founded on best practices and the International Baccalaureate Inquiry Model.
Research continues to reveal more about how students learn. Teachers study weekly as a faculty to stay current with the most effective teaching methods to help all students soar. Teacher implementation of the M.O.R.E. Approach (Multiple Options for Results in Education), promotes excitement and involvement in all aspects of student life by utilizing strategies such as cooperative learning, high-level critical thinking skills, multiple intelligences, integrated curriculum, international perspectives, and an emphasis on character and community service.
The Corbett Prep book, It's All About Kids: Every Child Deserves a Teacher of the Year, describes how the school combines the best in academics with social, emotional, and physical well being. At Corbett Preparatory School of IDS, young people develop the skills and knowledge – as well as the positive outlooks – they need to prosper in higher education and in life.
