In
Memory of Sherrie Morton
May 9, 1956 - January 29, 2001
For sixteen years Sherrie Morton ran the IDS office with love and
warmth. She was always full of kindness, and was the heart of the
IDS office.
Many people were saddened by the news of her passing away including
many students who have been attending IDS for almost ten years.
Kelly Lawerence explained, "I will miss her so much. She was
a great person inside and out. She was very fun to be around.
Ms. Ripple added, "She was my very best friend: working together
was such a joy. Sherrie took care of everything. If it needed to
be done, she always saw that it was."
When Sherrie had to move up North several years ago, a tree was
planted in her honor. That same tree had to be moved to another
place on campus because of the recent construction. The tree had
not looked well since the movement of it, but on the day of Sherrie's
passing, people noticed big, beautiful red buds on the top branches.
On the IDS Friday Morning Show, Ms. Ripple asked students to give
the tree a drink because it needs to stay glowing with the energy
and life of the IDS student body.
We will all miss her energy and effort everywhere. She was a very
giving and generous person. We will all miss her dearly.
