Independent
Day School-Corbett Campus (IDS-CC) in Tampa will host a classical
chamber music concert on April 13, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. The program
will feature professional musicians from some of Florida's finest
orchestras. They will perform "Octet" and "Fanfare"
by Igor Stravinsky, and Giovanni Gabrielli's "Canzone Sonare1,
2 and 3". The general public is welcome. Tickets are $5.00
and are available by calling the school at 961-3087, or at the door.
The program is part of the school's Reflections concert series -
family-friendly chamber music concerts designed to appeal to children
and adults alike. The programs are approximately one hour in length,
and are presented in the intimate setting of the IDS-CC theater
on Lake Lipsey.
The April performance will feature several musicians from the Florida
West Coast Symphony: Carmen Bannon, flutist; Laurie Penpraze, trombone
player; principal trumpet player Todd Craven; and trumpet player
Greg Knudsen. Craven and Knudsen also play with the Florida Brass
Quintet. Also featured will be Stacey McColley, clarinetist with
the Southwest Florida Symphony; Maurizio Venturini, bassoonist with
the Florida Orchestra; Michael Ellert, principal bassoonist with
the Palm Beach Opera; and Michael LeBlanc bass trombone player and
IDS music teacher.
"We are delighted with the success of this concert series,
which is now in its second season," said Tom McColley, IDS
music teacher. "IDS is unique in this area in providing classical
musical performances. We're excited to be a center for culture and
education for the community."
